It's Gone, Gone Forever !!   #MyChild'sFirst

“Mum-mum, it’s gone, it’s gone” – Arjun banged on the closed door and came running to me . His chin trembled and his eyes welled up with tears. He was trying to hide his face on my shoulder. The clock struck 5 o clock in the evening and I was about to hang up an urgent office call. Usually, around this time, he was supposed to be in the children’s park, downstairs, enjoying merry-go-round or jumping on the sand with other kids.

“Did you fall down ?” – “No” .

“Did you get hurt somewhere? “, “No, I was just running and then stopped”.

“It’s gone, lost forever “ – The weeping voice was turned into a sharp scream.

“Have you thrown your football somewhere? ?” – “No Mummum”.

"Where is your cycle ? Did you take it along ?" - That too came with a big No.

Could not get anything, what was wrong, what might have gone wrong , and that too gone forever! Completely puzzled, I started closely examining him, if there was any injury or bruise or blood clot, or any unexpected mark.

My five-year-old dragged me to the bedroom and was trying to wrap himself up in a blanket, such a strange behavior ! he is not the kind to go to bed now, after all it is playtime for him. This routine has been followed since last few years.

“Are you feeling cold, Mumma” – in an unsuccessful attempt to ease his discomfort, I was trying to pull him in my arms. if that could eliminate the pain to some extent.

“I would check if there is fever, you might have got cold, it is time for season change ”. I was about to rush for a thermometer from the drawer.

“No Thermometer Mum-mum, Please..” – He just blinked for a moment and the sobbing became louder.

“Thermometer would just check your body temperature and we would know if we have to take any medicine for the fever” – I tried to explain him as calmly as possible.

“ Mumma – are your ears paining? “ – I remember he had ear pain a few months back and was crying heavily, so was thinking in that line for this sudden , inexplicable downturn.

So far no external injury, no ear pain, no stomach pain , no other body pain that could be flagged and yes no apparent fever as per thermometer reading!

I was completely flabbergasted, not knowing at all what I should do next at least to make him stop crying.

Sometimes kids become too introvert to express their feelings or difficulties, however small it is , so was just trying to figure out where was the gap by continuing the conversation with him.

“Are you feeling hungry ? “ – was my last resort I used for him.

“I would not be able to have chocolate any more” – was the prompt reply.

“Why so beta?” .

“Can’t you see here ? “ , my son now opened his mouth and I could see the hollow , the reason for his pain, agony and all the suffering the little heart could not bear any more.

He lost his first tooth while playing. Could not find it where it fell exactly and was under impression he would never get it back !!

By the time , below pic was captured, Arjun got back the very first tooth he lost , so was confidently posing to showcase the subsequent loss 😊 😊

Hello Readers, this is based on a real  incident and the flow of the whole episode had been exactly the same as what I tried to capture here  😀😀
