Little Cuckoo - Will You Not Sing For Me ?

Little did I know ‘bout the chirpy, little cuckoo,
Cooing out there along my way,
Ensconcing me in the realm of happiness,
Even when I have been far, far away.

Sweet charming memories of the bygones,
So soothing, so rejuvenating, as ever the same,
Usher in new hope, new days, new moments,
At the core of my heart, underneath all of my pain.

Flashing the moments, in the canvas I could see,
A big banyan tree, spreading its branches , like a canopy,
Amidst the bloom of flowers, amidst the shower of bliss,
My li’l cuckoo sings, It can never go amiss.

When I am doomed, when I am ruined, lost in the world
Wherein I could find no trace,
Of my existence, of my life, of my brace --
As a savior of your friend, who is writhing in pain,
Dear Cuckoo – when will U sing once again?

A silky, velvety voice, like a breeze I could inhale,
Worry not, Brave the fear, cheering me up to sail,
Turning to be the real, the world of my fantasy,
To rise above my sorrow, to break the silence, - yes my ecstasy.

Entwined my soul, deep down my heart,
Could feel my emotions gushing out through my tears,
Be it ignominy, be it my soul cascading all glee ,
Little Cuckoo, will you not sing for me?

  1. No matter how dark the night is there will always be a dawn. Sure The Cuckoo will sing for you.

  2. poetry is the language understood only by a handful of gifted people......and I am someone sitting on the other side meant for the less deserving class :)

All I can say is that this poem is nice.....infact brilliant :)

  3. I agree with Amit that there will be dawn but sometimes instead of waiting for dawn to come ,we can bring the light of hope , blisss , happiness in our life ourselves , just we have to find the proper way bringing spark of joy in our life , Little Cuckoo have to sing again bringing new rhythm of hope and happiness in our life .

Anyhow this poem is above my appreciation, just I can say that after having a full night out and having only three hours of sleep I was tired , by the time I read it twice I felt I was rested and alive .

  4. Poem is lovely .It reflects pain and emotional distress .
Choice of some words ,I feel, breaks rhythm at some places. Natural words would have been more powerful and beautiful.
